The Fullness of Time
This Advent meditation takes us deep into Galatians 4 to explore the breathtaking reality of what Christmas truly accomplished. We discover that Jesus didn't merely visit earth as God in flesh—He subjected Himself to the very law He created, living under its demands as a human being. The message unpacks how the Old Testament law served as a tutor, revealing God's holiness while simultaneously showing us our inability to meet His standards. But when the fullness of time arrived, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those trapped under its crushing weight. The most staggering truth? Jesus didn't just fulfill the law for His own sake—He exchanged His perfect righteousness for our sin and guilt, making us heirs alongside Him. We're invited to grasp that adoption as sons and daughters means we now bear God's name, have access to call Him 'Abba, Father,' and possess an inheritance in His eternal household. This isn't sentimental Christmas sentiment; it's the radical reality that the sovereign God of the universe debased Himself to rescue enemies and transform them into beloved children. The nativity scene becomes infinitely more profound when we realize that the infant Jesus represents God's supreme devotion to making us His own.
